COST 732

Within the framework of the COST action 732 Quality Assurance and Improvement of Micro-Scale Meteorological Models an exercise has been conducted where several groups have run models - primarily CFD models - on a common data set. Results of the exercise will be presented at a special session devoted to COST 732 at the Harmonisation conference.

The data set concerns the MUST experiment, where dispersion experiments were conducted for an array of obstacles - 120 standard shipping containers, thus simulating an idealised city. A notable feature of the MUST data set is that the experiment was conducted as a full scale experiment in the real atmosphere, as well as in a wind tunnel.

COST 732 is concerned with quality assurance of models for flow and dispersion, and an important part of the work of the action is to develop a protocol for model evaluation. The exercise is used as a step to develop such a protocol.

COST 732 has established a web page which gives access to papers from the COST 732 special session. There is access to papers that are not included in the conference proceedings or that have been updated compared to the version in the proceedings. The web page in question is http://www.harmo.org/conferences/Cambridge/cost732.asp.
