Short-Abstract Review Results:
Each abstract was reviewed by several reviewers. The purpose of
the review was to evaluate the contents of the abstracts,
to allocate them according to thematic sessions and make a short
list for oral and poster presentations. This process was finalised
by 28th February 2007.
The basic criteria for selecting papers for oral presentation
is whether they fit in with the philosophy of developing an improved
modelling culture where modellers as well as regulators and users
make effective use of each other’s experience.
This page presents a brief summary of the review process and the
results.
Oral and poster presentations will be included in the Proceedings
of the Conference with a 5-page long abstract. In addition,
authors of all abstracts will have the chance to submit their
paper for a special issue of a scientific journal after the conference.

Details of the review
process:
Around
200 abstracts were submitted. Originally, 163 authors preferred
their presentations to be Oral, 22 as Posters and 12 had expressed
no preference.
Abstracts were sent to 22
reviewers. The number of reviews received for each abstract was
between 5 and 12.
Each reviewer received abstracts sorted according to the presentation
preference expressed by the authors. The reviewers were asked
to comment on the quality of the abstract, its relevance to the
conference, the suitability of the abstract to the sessions preferred
by the authors, and to give a final mark from 1 to 5 indicating
the overall quality in respect to the abstracts received.
Session change was carried if more than 2 reviewers recommended
change of session according to the second/third preference from
the authors and the recommendations from the reviewers.
Abstracts with similar authors on subjects which were proposed
for the same session were asked to merge their abstracts.
The number of allowed Oral presentation was limited to around
80, according to the outline of the programme and consistent with
HARMO 10. The abstracts with the best mark from all reviewers
were considered as orals. The recommendations of the reviewers
on ORL/PST presentation were also taken into account.
Where suitable, the remaining abstracts were allocated to poster
sessions. A number of abstracts will be short-listed for oral
presentation in case of cancellations.
Finally all main contact authors were informed via email by 28th
February 2007, regarding their presentations. The abstracts for
both oral and poster presentations will have the opportunity to
submit their work for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings
and for a special issue of a scientific journal after the Conference.
