Emissions inventory course (temporarily suspended)

Title Emissions inventory course
Length 1 day
Detail Course outline (.pdf, <1MB)

Outline

This course would particularly suit anyone wanting advice in collating data and calculating emissions for an emissions inventory for use in air dispersion modelling, or who already have data sources or an emissions inventory that needs to be manipulated for model input. The course may be taken in conjunction with ADMS-Urban or ADMS-Roads training or as a stand-alone option.

Air pollutants are emitted from a wide range of sources, including traffic and industrial processes. A key component of assessing their impact is the collation of the emissions data. The resulting Emissions Inventory could be used as input for air dispersion modelling, greenhouse gas assessment and noise mapping, or for general planning purposes.

This course is designed to give guidance on compiling Emissions Inventories, including:

  • types of sources to be included in an Emissions Inventory and information needed;
  • if emissions are not available, how to calculate emissions and where to obtain emission factors;
  • assimilating data into specific formats depending on the tools available and the purpose of the Emissions Inventory;
  • manipulating the Emissions Inventory for use in air dispersion modelling, including aggregating sources.
  • a brief introduction to an EMissions Inventory Toolkit, EMIT.

The day will include a combination of worked examples/demonstrations and discussions.
