Environmental software developer Full job description

We are seeking a software developer to join the CERC user interface and visualisation development team. The successful candidate will work with Windows desktop and Linux HPC, using technologies such as Visual Basic, Python, Windows Installer and Bash scripting.

We are always pleased to hear from graduates, post-graduates and professionals in applied mathematics, physics or engineering to join our team in Cambridge. The work is both intellectually challenging and driven by commercial considerations so we are looking for people capable of finishing tasks within deadlines.

Required attributes:

  • proven high ability in mathematics, physics or engineering;
  • experience of programming;
  • ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.

Desirable attributes and skills:

  • experience of some or all of the following: FORTRAN, MATLAB, SQL, PHP;
  • knowledge of some or all of the following: meteorology, atmospheric sciences, aeronautics, CFD, mesoscale atmospheric modelling, wind engineering.
