Training

CERC offers comprehensive training courses in the use and applications of CERC software.

Regular 1 and 2-day standard courses are offered in our Cambridge offices. Tailored training and on-site training are also available to meet your specific training requirements.

In brief

All courses have a practical emphasis based around worked examples.

  • ADMS 4, ADMS-Roads, ADMS-Urban: the course guides the user through the basic theory of atmospheric dispersion modelling, use of ADMS software and specific applications.
  • EMIT: the course covers use of the emissions management toolkit for collating emissions data and calculating emissions from emission factors.
  • Emissions inventory: the course gives guidance on gathering emissions data for large areas, including industrial processes, vehicles, commercial and domestic emissions.

Course types

The training team is led by accredited trainers, holding the Professional Trainers Certificate awarded by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). All trainers are experienced in the practical application of CERC in-house software. The training courses continue to develop, building on the experience gained both during training and through our own consultancy and development work.

Standard courses

Training is given in small groups of up to 6 people, each of whom has individual use of a computer. Courses have a practical emphasis and include a mixture of demonstrations, worked examples and discussion of software applicability.

Tailored courses

CERC staff have extensive experience in applying our in-house software through environmental consultancy. Training courses can therefore be tailored to give guidance and more in-depth instruction into specialised applications of the software, such as odour nuisance or modelling airports. Alternatively, you may prefer to use your own studies as the basis for training.

On-site training

We are also available to conduct on-site training.
