In 2008, an ADMS-based pollution forecasting system was installed in Beijing. This service was for a limited period covering the pre-Games, Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, July-September 2008. CERC developed the system in partnership with KNMI (the Dutch Met Office) and Beijing Capital Normal University.
Forecasts for three days ahead were posted daily to a website and disseminated by email to the project team. The forecasts were shown as high-resolution pollution contour maps with text summaries for each of Beijing's eight districts.
This forecasting system was a DRAGON2 project funded by ESA under the PROMOTE programme. For more information, please see the project report.
